Kiln Disaster Mug 1
Kiln Disaster Mug 1
This is the very first in a series of mugs exploring the concepts surrounding the processes of creating the pieces themselves. This piece is a slip-cast porcelain mug in the shape of the kiln in which it was fired, heavily modified, and fused to a broken piece of kiln shelf and shelf supporting post. It is coated with hand-mixed glazes from a small-batch glaze company, a glaze formulated by one of the world’s leading glaze experts, and one custom blend developed in collaboration with another small-batch company. The porcelain was purchased at deep discount, as it was thought unsuitable for sale to the general public.
There are many meta layers in this piece, only a true potter could fully appreciate it.
Shipping is included in the purchase price. Thank you.
