The photos show a stack of sponges, but they are sold individually. The price is for a SINGLE faux sponge, handmade from porcelain and ceramic glaze using a proprietary formula that allows the entire item to be formed as a single unit at a temperature of over 2250 degrees Fahrenheit. It looks like a kitchen sponge, but it's not. The green layer is porcelain and the yellow part is made from a clay-heavy glass.

Each sponge is different and imperfect. Please examine the photos carefully, so you understand the slight variations in thickness, overall size, and bubble placement.

If you're brave and gentle, you might use it for a ring dish next to your sink. However, this piece is not indestructible, and should be treated as a work of art. It might be a dishwasher-safe work of art. I'm not sure. I haven't tested it yet, and I don't recommend it!

This sponge is the culmination of countless hours spread out across about 6 months of weekends spent on research, testing, experimenting, sampling, and refining to develop the chemistry necessary to achieve the correct distribution and size of bubbles, along with the bright saturated yellow color, and to consistently form the green and yellow layers into the proper shape in the kiln. While the end result may appear to represent the ubiquitous kitchen sponge, it also stands as a monument to this struggle.

You will get ONE SINGLE SPONGE sculpture, as shown in the photos (blemishes and all). Keep in mind that each one is slightly different, as the process of creating them allows for a range of natural variations in appearance. No two are the same, but I strive for a certain level of consistency.

Take good care of your sponge. Honor it. Cherish it. Do not rub it across your teeth or flesh. Ultimately, it is glass, and you must be gentle so you do not damage it or yourself.
